
Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Assam on Thursday evening to a warm reception by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and senior leaders of the state BJP unit. He landed at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.
During his two-day stay, HM Shah will chair the BJP Assam unit’s core committee meeting and oversee key organisational discussions.
CM Sarma said the Home Minister would review preparations for the forthcoming Assembly elections, calling them crucial for the party.
Taking to X, CM Sarma posted, “Honoured to welcome Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji at Guwahati Airport. Adarniya Amit Shah ji will soon chair the Core Committee meeting of @BJP4Assam and take part in various programmes tomorrow. We look forward to his leadership and counsel.”

On Friday, HM Shah will inaugurate the newly constructed Brahmaputra wing of the Raj Bhavan. He will also virtually inaugurate the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory and lay the foundation stones for multiple projects of the ITBP, SSB, and Assam Rifles.
Later in the day, Home Minister Amit Shah will address a convention of newly elected NDA panchayat members at the Panchayat Sanmilan.
In the evening, he will inaugurate the birth centenary celebrations of Golap Borbora, Assam’s first non-Congress Chief Minister.
He is scheduled to return to Delhi after the event.
Chief Minister Sarma described the visit as politically significant while noting that the inaugurations and cultural programmes were equally important for the state.
Officials originally planned Home Minister Shah’s trip as a one-day visit on August 29, but later extended it to two days.
PM Modi’s Assam Visit Rescheduled
The government extended Home Minister Shah’s originally planned one-day visit on August 29 to a two-day trip.
The Prime Minister will now visit the state on September 13-14 to take part in the year-long birth centenary celebrations of legendary musician Bhupen Hazarika.
