In the Udaipur stabbing case the last rites of a teenager who was fatally stabbed by his classmate on August 16, are being conducted today amid stringent security measures.

The funeral procession began this morning from the teenager’s home, surrounded by tight security. District administration officials are also part of the procession.

In anticipation of potential unrest, all schools and colleges in Udaipur will be closed on Tuesday. The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders, banning public gatherings across the city. A large police presence is visible throughout, and drones have been deployed to monitor the situation.

Internet services in the city are suspended to prevent the spread of misinformation and further unrest.

Officials confirmed that the student’s body was handed over to his family at 4:30 a.m. today. After the teenager’s death, a large crowd gathered at the hospital and began protesting against the Udaipur stabbing case. Initially, the family refused to accept the body, demanding the harshest punishment for the accused, a government job for a family member, and Rs 1 crore in compensation. After negotiations, an agreement was reached for Rs 51 lakh in compensation and a contractual job for a family member. Subsequently, the post-mortem was conducted.

The 15-year-old student, Devraj, succumbed to his injuries on Monday afternoon. His classmate attacked him over a minor dispute involving a notebook on August 16.

The incident sparked violence, leading to vehicle fires and vandalism at a shopping mall.

CM Sharma oversees the situation and has dispatched a team of doctors to Udaipur. Despite their efforts, the teenager could not be saved. State Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham expressed condolences, stating, “Despite all efforts by the state government, the child could not be saved. I urge everyone to maintain peace.
