Two people tragically drowned early Saturday morning when their SUV became submerged in a waterlogged underpass in Old Faridabad. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the vehicle, traveling at high speed, failed to heed police warnings and drove into the underpass filled with 10 to 12 feet of water.
The floodwaters quickly trapped the SUV, causing both occupants to drown as the vehicle submerged completely. Despite the police’s swift response, they recovered only one body during the night and found the second body in the morning.

The victims, both bank employees, included a manager from HDFC Bank’s Gurugram branch. The severe waterlogging, exacerbated by heavy rains over the past three days, has submerged both underpasses in Faridabad, prompting police to close access to these areas. However, the SUV proceeded despite police signals indicating the danger.
The ongoing heavy rain has caused significant waterlogging across Faridabad, turning numerous areas into virtual rivers. The victims, unable to perceive the extent of the flooding due to darkness, could not escape from their locked vehicle in time. One victim died on the spot, while the second, who was initially in critical condition, later succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as heavy rains persist, severely disrupting connectivity throughout the city.
