Twin Terror Attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah Demands Probe

“If they (Centre) do not go for the probe, we should invite an international committee to investigate who is responsible for such attacks,” NC chief said.

National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah

On the sidelines of an election rally in Jammu’s Mendhar, Farooq Abdullah talked to the reporters and demanded a probe into the twin terror attack.

National Conference president on Sunday urged the Centre to order a probe into the attacks in Jammu and Kashmir a day earlier. He also asked Pakistan to stop supporting terrorism in the region.

Terrorists attacked two locations in Kashmir on Saturday night, killing Aijaz Sheikh- a former sarpanch who was a part of the Bhartiya Janta Party- in Shopian and wounding a Rajasthan couple in Anantnag.

The former Chief Minister threatened to “invite an international committee” to undertake an investigation and find out the culprits if the Centre didn’t order a probe.

“I have been repeatedly saying that those sitting in Delhi are misleading the people by saying Article 370 was responsible for terrorism. How many years have passed since the abrogation of the Article? Has terrorism stopped?” Interacting with the reporter in Mendhar, Abdullah Said.

“If they (Centre) do not go for the probe, we should invite an international committee to investigate who is responsible for such attacks,” NC chief said.

Speaking about the killing of Sheikh, Abdullah said India is free country and any party can propagate their ideology and demanded the immediate probe of the culprit.

Abdullah said that unless the terrorism is totally eradicated peace will not prevail in the region.

Abdullah claimed that Home Minister, during his two day tour to srinagar, met those who are against the National Confrence, prioritizing poll benefits over gruesome attack in the region.

“Who brought the gun here (in J-K) and who raised a party which brought the gun from across the border and targeted our innocent people and workers? Who was the person getting money from Pakistan and distributing it among the people here?” he attacked without naming anyone but apparently referring to separatist-turned-mainstream politician Sajad Lone.
