Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday said Operation Sindoor stands as the finest example of tri-services synergy carried out under a clear-cut political directive and with full freedom to act or respond.
He reiterated that the operation remains ongoing and warned that any future misadventure would be met with a resolute response.
At the Army’s annual press conference, Gen Dwivedi praised all stakeholders for their role in Operation Sindoor, highlighting coordinated efforts across the armed forces and national agencies.
He said the Northern Front remains stable but requires vigilance, with confidence-building measures gradually normalising border areas and enabling routine activities like grazing and hydrotherapy camps.
Gen Dwivedi added that India’s deployment along the Line of Actual Control stays robust, with capability development and infrastructure upgrades progressing steadily.
Recalling the April 22 Pahalgam attack, he said the Army executed Operation Sindoor with precision, striking deep, dismantling terror infrastructure, and destroying seven of nine targets over 88 hours.
Since May 10, the north-western front and Jammu & Kashmir have remained sensitive but under firm control.
He said the Army eliminated 31 terrorists in 2025, 65 per cent of Pakistani origin, including the Pahalgam attackers, while active local terrorists dropped to single digits and recruitment fell to just two.
Gen Dwivedi highlighted positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir, noting robust development, revived tourism, and the peaceful Shri Amarnath Yatra, which drew over four lakh pilgrims, exceeding the five-year average.
“The theme of terrorism to tourism is gradually taking shape,” the Army Chief said.
