2 Soldiers Martyred in Battle Against Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir

In a tragic incident, two army officers and two soldiers lost their lives in a fierce encounter that erupted in the Kalakot forests of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was launched jointly by the army’s special forces and the police, following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The Pir Panjal forest in Jammu and Kashmir has posed a significant challenge for security forces in recent years, with terrorists exploiting the dense cover to conceal their positions. The difficult terrain, marked by treacherous mountains and dense jungles, provides an advantageous backdrop for militants.

Security forces have been actively engaged in counter-terrorism efforts, conducting operations to root out terrorists from these forested regions. The encounter in Guller-Behrote area of Budhal tehsil, which occurred during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) involving a joint team of army, police, and CRPF, resulted in the elimination of a terrorist just last week.

The ongoing struggle highlights the persistent threat posed by terrorists who leverage the natural complexities of the terrain to evade capture and launch attacks. The sacrifice of the army officers and soldiers serves as a somber reminder of the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace in the region.
