Tihar Jail authorities have rebuffed claims made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s alleged weight loss since his arrest, asserting that his weight has remained steady at 65 kg. This comes in response to assertions by Delhi Minister Atishi, who stated that Kejriwal weighed 69.5 kg before his custody by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).

What Tihar Jail has to say?
According to a press release from Tihar Jail, Kejriwal was examined by two doctors upon his arrival on April 1, 2024, and all his vital signs were reported as normal. The release further stated that Kejriwal’s weight has remained consistent at 65 kg since his arrival, with home-cooked meals provided as per court orders and all medical parameters within normal ranges.
Contradicting the Tihar Jail statement, Atishi claimed that Kejriwal had lost 4.5 kg in the 12 days since his arrest, citing concerns about his health, particularly his severe diabetes. Atishi also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging a conspiracy behind Kejriwal’s incarceration and expressing fears for his well-being while in custody.

Kejriwal was taken into custody on Monday following the conclusion of his custodial remand by the Directorate of Enforcement, which portrayed him as the central figure in an alleged scam and accused him of providing evasive responses and withholding pertinent information during the investigation.
This isn’t the first time Kejriwal has been detained in Tihar Jail; in 2014, he was imprisoned for refusing to furnish bail in a defamation case filed against him by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari.
