The victims, all hailing from Jalore district in Rajasthan, were on route to Gaya for Pind Daan, a significant Hindu ritual. Ganga Singh Chauhan, a survivor of the crash, shared, “All the passengers were heading to Gaya when the bus collided with the truck. The collision resulted in the loss of three lives and left 15 others injured.”

Emergency response teams, including nursing staff from the NHAI ambulance, quickly arrived at the scene to assist. The injured were transported to Sadar Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination.

The accident occurred during the ongoing Pitru Paksha fair in Gaya, which has been attracting pilgrims since September 17. This year marks the 14th day of the event, drawing visitors from Bihar and neighboring states, including Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. Many devotees come from across the country and abroad to perform Pind Daan, a ritual honoring ancestors and seeking peace for their souls.

The Pitru Paksha fair will continue until October 2, allowing pilgrims to engage in these important spiritual ceremonies.

This incident follows another tragic bus accident on Sunday in Kaimur district, where three pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh died and more than two dozen were injured while traveling to Vindhyachal after performing Pind Daan in Gaya.
