In a strongly worded response to Moulana Sajid Rashidi’s controversial comment on SP MP Dimple Yadav’s attire, BJP MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh condemned the statement as not merely an insult to one woman, but an attack on the nation’s civilisation, culture, and the dignity of Indian womanhood.
Speaking on social media platform ‘X’, Dr Singh stated, “Shameful, Disgusting, Sickening, Dangerous !! When a so-called Maulana mocks the saree, he is not mocking cloth – he is attacking Bharatiya Sanskriti and the dignity of Indian women.”
The post further read, “From Maitreyi to Lakshmibai, India celebrated women as philosophers, protectors, warriors. The saree is not just attire — it is the banner of Indian womanhood. To insult it is to insult Bharat Mata.”

He further criticised the silence of opposition parties, calling it a ‘cowardly silence protected by pseudo-secularism’.
According to Singh, ignoring such remarks is tantamount to endorsing regressive mindsets, not fit for a civilised society.
Condemning Extremist Ideologies
Dr Singh expressed grave concern over the ideological breeding grounds that produce such radical views, saying, “Institutions that promote toxic mindsets against women should be banned. These are not just theological differences; they’re threats to national integrity and womanhood.”
Citing legal actions in other countries, he noted, “In Iran, such a statement would merit 74 lashes. In Pakistan, 10 years in jail. Why should India be soft on those who insult our women?”
To reinforce the cultural foundation of women’s status in India, Dr Singh quoted the Devi Suktam from the Rigveda: ‘Aham Rāṣṭrī Saṅgamanī Vasūnām’ — meaning, ‘I am the sovereign, the gathering force of all wealth’.
He reiterated that Indian tradition celebrates women not as subservient beings, but as sovereign leaders — ‘Samrajñī Bhava’ — ‘Be a queen’.
Dr Singh concluded with a firm declaration: “This is 21st-century India. Women’s dignity is non-negotiable. The BJP will stand unwavering for the honour of womanhood.”
His comments have sparked wider political debate, with the BJP launching statewide protests and demanding action against those who defame Indian women under the guise of religious commentary.
