Third Phase Of Lok Sabha Elections: 93 Seats To Go Under Polling, Know The Key Constituencies

The third phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is underway, with voting scheduled for 93 Lok Sabha constituencies spanning 11 states and union territories. The Elections Commission of India has reported a total of 1,351 candidates contesting in this phase

While initially, 94 constituencies across 12 states and Union Territories were slated for polling on May 7, the BJP secured victory in Surat, Gujarat, uncontested. Additionally, the voting for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat in Jammu and Kashmir has been rescheduled to May 25. Conversely, the polling in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, originally set for the second phase on April 26, is now taking place in the third phase on May 7.

Key constituencies drawing attention include Gandhinagar in Gujarat, where Home Minister Amit Shah faces off against Sonal Ramanbhai Patel from the Congress. In Maharashtra’s Baramati, Sharad Pawar’s daughter, Supriya Sule, contests against Sunetra Pawar, the wife of his nephew Ajit Pawar

Additionally, Vidisha and Guna constituencies in Madhya Pradesh are of significance. Former MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, representing the BJP, competes against Congress candidate Bhanu Pratap Sharma in Vidisha. Meanwhile, Jyotiraditya Scindia has entered the fray from Guna, contesting against Congress’ Rao Yadavendra Singh.

Other notable contests include Dharwad in Bihar (BJP’s Pralhad Joshi vs INC’s Vinod Asooti), Haveri in Karnataka (BJP’s Basavraj Bommai vs INC’s Anand Swamy Gaddadevarmath), and Dhubri in Assam (NDA’s Badruddin Ajmal vs INDIA’s Rakibul Hassan). These seats hold significance in the ongoing electoral process.
