India is observing the seventh anniversary of the Pulwama attack, in which 40 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force were killed in a suicide bombing carried out by Jaish-e-Mohammed on a convoy in Jammu and Kashmir.
The attack, which took place on February 14, 2019, drew nationwide outrage and mourning. Shah said the country will always remain indebted to the courage, dedication and sacrifice of the security forces and agencies that confront terrorism.
In response to the attack, India carried out airstrikes on a Jaish-e-Mohammed camp in Balakot, Pakistan, signalling a firm stance against cross-border terrorism.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to the fallen personnel. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Remembering the brave heroes who laid down their lives in Pulwama on this day in 2019. Their devotion, resolve and service to the nation remain forever etched in our collective consciousness. Every Indian draws strength from their enduring courage.”
