On Thursday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
During the hour-long meeting, CM Reddy presented a memorandum outlining 12 critical issues affecting the state.
Key among the demands was the release of pending funds and the allotment of coal blocks for the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a public sector miner crucial for Telangana’s coal supply.
CM Reddy emphasized that fulfilling commitments under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act remained paramount.
The Chief Minister highlighted the need for 2,450 acres of Defence lands to facilitate various state infrastructure projects and urged PM Modi to expedite the transfer process.
Additionally, he sought revival of the Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) project in Hyderabad, originally sanctioned during the UPA regime.
Telangana CM Reddy Pushes For 25 Lakh PMAY Houses, Exclusive Coal Blocks For SCCL
CM Reddy pressed for the sanctioning of 25 lakh houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana and requested the Centre to allocate coal blocks within the Singareni coalfield exclusively for SCCL.
He underscored Telangana’s 51% stake in SCCL and urged the removal of certain coal blocks from auction lists.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister urged PM Modi to sanction an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for Hyderabad, highlighting available land at Hyderabad Central University.
He also advocated for Telangana’s inclusion in the India Semiconductor Mission, citing potential investments in semiconductor fabs in Hyderabad.
CM Reddy expressed disappointment over the Railway Ministry’s decision to replace a promised railway coach factory in Kazipet with a periodical overhauling workshop, urging reconsideration.
He also requested the Centre to release arrears under the Backward Regions Grant Fund and expedite projects like the Bayyaram Steel Plant and Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR).
CM Reddy proposed the upgrade of 13 state highways to national highways to meet growing transport demands. He emphasized the importance of these initiatives for enhancing connectivity to vital towns and pilgrimage centres in Telangana.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister assured CM Reddy of considering these demands and their implications for the state’s development trajectory.
