Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest round of engagements with global technology leaders has once again placed India at the centre of the world’s semiconductor and AI transformation.
PM Modi hosted Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan and Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S in a series of high-impact meetings on December 9. He signalled India’s accelerating push toward technological self-reliance and digital innovation.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the nation’s commitment to nurturing next-generation talent at scale.
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who has led the company since March 2025, shared photos of his conversation with PM Modi. He reflected strong confidence in India’s pivotal semiconductor potential.
Lip-Bu Tan highlighted how India is emerging as a crucial player in the global chip ecosystem.

The meeting came just a day after Intel and the Tata Group unveiled a landmark $14 billion alliance aimed at boosting domestic chip manufacturing.
This strategic collaboration will expand India’s fabrication capacity. It will scale AI PC solutions for a rapidly growing global market.
It will also build geo-resilient supply chains as the world moves away from heavy dependence on Taiwan and China for chip production.
Intel reaffirmed its strong backing of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
The Government launched this ₹76,000-crore national drive in 2021 to build a complete chip ecosystem.
Intel emphasised its commitment to support this mission through deeper collaboration and long-term investment.
With over $18 billion in semiconductor proposals already approved, India is positioning itself as a powerful new contender in the global supply chain architecture.
Intel’s renewed commitment signals industry confidence in India’s skilled workforce, policy stability, and growing technological muscle.
India’s Tech Momentum Surges
Cognizant reinforced this momentum during its meeting with PM Modi on December 9. CEO Ravi Kumar S and India Chairman Rajesh Varrier presented the company’s expansion vision.
They outlined plans to integrate more deeply into India’s national digital transformation roadmap.

The discussions focused on accelerating AI deployment across key sectors. They emphasised strengthening productivity through large-scale skill creation.
The leaders also committed to expanding operations into tier-2 and tier-3 cities to ensure broad-based economic inclusion.
Photos from the meeting captured a warm handshake and group interaction against traditional Indian décor. These images highlighted the strategic goodwill shaping India’s tech diplomacy.
Cognizant, with over 2,50,000 employees in India, emphasised its commitment to align with initiatives like the IndiaAI Mission launched in 2024.
Ravi Kumar, recently honoured with the 2025 Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, continues to emerge as a key Indian-origin leader in the global tech landscape.
Industry observers expect Cognizant’s India strategy to spark additional investments exceeding $1 billion, reinforcing India’s rise as a global AI talent powerhouse.
Together, Intel’s semiconductor push and Cognizant’s AI expansion highlight a defining moment.
PM Modi’s leadership propels India to the forefront of the global tech revolution. India actively shapes the direction of this revolution with ambition and capability.
The nation maintains an unshakable focus on self-reliance as it drives this transformation.
