Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turns 76, has often drawn attention for his discipline, focus and ability to connect policy with everyday life. His tenure has featured initiatives across poverty alleviation, healthcare, financial inclusion and global diplomacy.

Beyond public appearances, several personal accounts reveal experiences that inspired people who interacted with him. The website ‘Modi Story’ documents many such recollections.

Sonal Mehta from Madhya Pradesh recalls meeting Modi, then Gujarat Chief Minister, in 2013. She offered him water. PM Modi poured only the quantity he needed into his glass, highlighting his careful use of resources.

During a recent interaction with students at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, he urged them to turn off taps while brushing and between gargles.

Singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan recalled using a QR code to pay a lemon vendor. He described the simple transaction as an example of India’s expanding digital payments ecosystem.

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai recalled meeting PM Modi in 2009 while seeking land for an institute dedicated to film, communication and creative arts.

Prime Minister Modi invited him for breakfast, heard his proposal and directed officials to identify suitable land near the airport. He even asked Ghai to contact him directly if officials remained unavailable.

During a 2007 election rally in Pauri, Uttarakhand, a power cut disrupted proceedings. Prime Minister  Modi continued speaking for nearly 40 minutes while moving closer to the crowd.

Former Defence Secretary R K Mathur recalled PM Modi’s first Independence Day address from the Red Fort.

Prime Minister Modi insisted on removing the bullet-proof glass before the podium despite security objections. Mathur said officials removed it at 2 AM.

Surinder Jain recalled PM Modi’s 2001 visit to remote Christmas Island to study sand-island development for Gujarat.
