Ahead of the swearing-in of West Bengal’s first Bharatiya Janata Party-led government on Saturday, incoming Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari described the occasion as a turning point in the state’s political history.
In a statement shared on social media, Adhikari said the oath-taking ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would mark the beginning of a new phase focused on development, peace, and prosperity under a BJP government both at the Centre and in the state.
Suvendu Adhikari also claimed that the event symbolised the end of what he called 15 years of Trinamool Congress misrule and the start of the BJP’s vision of ‘Sonar Bangla’. He welcomed PM Modi to Kolkata and referred to the formation of the BJP government as a historic moment since it would be the party’s first administration in West Bengal after Independence.
A historic dawn for West Bengal indeed.
It is a moment of profound pride and jubilation to welcome Visionary Leader Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji to the City of Joy.

The swearing-in ceremony will likely take place at Brigade Parade Ground and will be administered by West Bengal Governor Ravi.
Senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, will likely attend.
The ceremony is likely to reveal the names of Adhikari’s Cabinet colleagues as the new government formally takes office.
The incoming administration is likely to function from the Writers’ Building in central Kolkata, replacing Nabanna in Howrah district, which served as the secretariat under former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Adhikari has also indicated that his government would follow a model of collective decision-making.
Speaking on Friday, Suvendu Adhikari said governance would not revolve around an individual leader but would instead function through collective leadership and coordination between the Centre and the state government.
