Supreme Court To Hear Petition On Hathras Stampede Inquiry
The Supreme Court is set to hear a petition on July 12 seeking an inquiry into the stampede that happens in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The petition demands the formation of a five-member committee under the supervision of the Supreme Court to investigate the incident.
The petition highlights that guidelines have issue to all states to prevent future occurrences of such incidents. It also calls for a status report from the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh on the Hathras stampede. The petition demands legal action against those responsible for the tragedy and calls for the establishment of guidelines for organizing large events.

The stampede at the Hathras Satsang resulted in the death of 121 people. In addition to the Supreme Court petition, a letter petition file in the Allahabad High Court by advocate Arun Bhansali. This petition demands a CBI or judicial inquiry into the incident, but the High Court has not yet scheduled a hearing for it.
Lawyer AP Singh, representing the alleged accused Baba, has commented on the case. The main accused, Dev Prakash Madhukar, is currently in judicial custody. Madhukar was apprehend by the Special Operations Group of Hathras Police from Najafgarh, Delhi, after a reward of one lakh rupees was announce for his capture.
The police are investigating whether any political party is funding the accused for their programs. Preliminary findings suggest a possible connection between the accused and political entities for mutual political and personal gains.
