The Supreme Court will hear on October 14 the Karnataka government’s petition against the interim bail granted to Bhavani Revanna, mother of JDS leader Prajjwal Revanna. Bhavani Revanna is involved in the Karnataka sex scandal. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan will preside over the case.
Supreme Court Warns Against Politicization
During the last hearing, the court stressed the need to avoid politicizing the case. The court pointed out that Bhavani, a 55-year-old woman, is accused of aiding her son, Prajwal, who has faced serious allegations. The court questioned her role in his crimes but assured that her guilt would be determined during the trial.
Karnataka Government Seeks Bail Cancellation
The Karnataka government filed a petition against the High Court’s decision to grant Bhavani interim bail. Bhavani was arrested on June 7 for allegedly orchestrating the kidnapping of a former domestic maid to prevent her testimony against Prajwal. Prajwal, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, faces accusations of sexually abusing several women.
