The Supreme Court has asked Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to clarify his statement on K Kavitha’s bail. A bench led by Justice BR Gavai is hearing the case and will review it again in two weeks. This case involves a 2015 cash-for-vote scandal, where Revanth Reddy allegedly attempted to bribe a nominated MLA.
Petitioners Demand Case Transfer
Petitioners, including former Deputy Chief Minister Gunta Kandla Jagdish Reddy, have requested the Supreme Court to transfer the case out of Telangana. They argue that Revanth Reddy’s influence over the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the prosecution makes a fair trial impossible in the state. The Supreme Court has issued a notice on this petition and ordered a reply.
Court Criticizes Reddy’s Statements
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer accused Revanth Reddy of repeatedly commenting on the court proceedings, undermining the judicial process. The Supreme Court criticized Reddy’s statements and warned that it might transfer the case if he does not respect the court. The petitioners have asked for the case to be moved to Madhya Pradesh to ensure a fair trial.
