Supreme Court Initiates Suo Motu Action in Controversial Dismissal of 6 Women Judges in Madhya Pradesh

Supreme Court, led by Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Sanjay Karol, Takes Suo Motu Cognizance of Dismissal of 6 Women Judges in MP; Gaurav Aggarwal Appointed Amicus Curiae. The Judges were Dismissed by the Shivraj Singh Chauhan Government in June 2023, Following the MP High Court’s Recommendation and the State Law Department’s Findings of Unsatisfactory Work.

Services of Six Judges in MP Terminated by Government in June 2023, Supreme Court Takes Suo Motu Cognizance

Termination of Services: Supreme Court Takes Notice as Six Judges, including Sarita Chaudhary, Rachna Atulkar Joshi, Priya Sharma, Sonakshi Joshi, Aditi Kumar Sharma, and Jyoti Barkhade, Face Dismissal from Umaria, Rewa, Indore, Morena, Tikamgarh, and Timarni, Respectively.

Action was taken without complaint
