The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has welcomed the Modi government’s decision to lift the ban on government employees participating in RSS activities. The RSS, which has been engaged in nation-building and societal service for the past 99 years, believes that this move will strengthen India’s democratic system.
Sunil Ambekar Welcomes the Decision
Sunil Ambekar, the All India Publicity Chief of the RSS, issued a statement regarding the government’s decision. He emphasized that the RSS has been consistently involved in nation-building and societal service for nearly a century. Ambekar highlighted the organization’s contributions during times of national security threats, unity and integrity challenges, and natural disasters. He noted that various national leaders have praised the RSS’s role in these efforts.

Ban Imposed Due to Political Interests
Ambekar also stated that the previous ban on government employees’ participation in RSS activities was politically motivated. He argued that the ban was imposed without basis by the then government, solely for political interests. He asserted that the current decision by the Modi government is appropriate and will bolster India’s democratic framework.
Central Government Lifts Ban
The Home Ministry of India has issued an order lifting the long-standing ban on government employees engaging in RSS activities. The central government has amended the orders issued in 1966, 1970, and 1980, which prohibited government employees from participating in RSS branches and other related activities.
