Sonia Gandhi expresses gratitude in Telangana, Acknowledges 'Amma' affection ahead of Elections
Former Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has passionately appealed to the people of Telangana to endorse the grand old party in the forthcoming November 29 assembly elections, emphasizing the need for change. Reflecting on the genesis of Telangana in 2014 amid the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh during the UPA’s tenure, Mrs. Gandhi asserted that the Congress fulfilled its commitment to the state’s residents.
Telangana’s creation, assured by Mrs. Gandhi, unfolded while the UPA held power. The prolonged agitation leading to the state’s formation was led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, now seeking a third consecutive term as the state’s leader.
Expressing gratitude for the affectionate moniker “Sonia amma” bestowed upon her by the people of Telangana, Sonia Gandhi, despite being absent from the campaign, conveyed her emotional connection with the electorate.
Building on the Congress’s triumph in neighboring Karnataka, the party has unveiled comprehensive provisions spanning women, farmers, youth, statehood activists, the elderly, and the homeless.
