The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of former model Divya Pahuja secured a six-day remand for the main accused and hotel owner, Abhijit Singh, while his associates Hemraj and Omprakash were remanded to judicial custody, as confirmed by the police.

Expressing their dissatisfaction with the ongoing investigation, Pahuja’s family demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. Naina Pahuja, Divya’s sister, stressed the urgency of transferring the investigation to the CBI to uncover the truth and raised concerns about the police’s handling of the case.

On January 2, Divya Pahuja was allegedly taken to Hotel City Point by five individuals and fatally shot in room number 111, as per police reports.

After the completion of the main accused’s five-day remand, the SIT requested the court for an extension to continue the interrogation, citing the need to recover additional items related to the murder, including the weapon used. Consequently, the court granted an extended remand for Singh. Additionally, the fourth arrest, 20-year-old Megha, remains in police remand until Wednesday.

Despite a week passing since the incident, the police have not located the victim’s body or apprehended the two other accused—Balraj Gill and Ravi—responsible for disposing of the body. Moreover, the weapon used in the crime is yet to be recovered.

The police disclosed that six teams from the Crime Branch under the SIT are actively investigating the case. These teams are conducting searches in various locations across Punjab, Delhi, and Rajasthan, aiming to locate the victim’s body and the absconding accused.

To apprehend the fugitive, Balraj, issuing a lookout notice is being contemplated by the authorities. However, as of now, no formal correspondence has been initiated.

According to police sources, Megha, who was apprehended on Monday, had been in contact with Abhijeet Singh for around one and a quarter months. Post the murder, Megha responded to Abhijeet’s call and arrived at the location.

Varun Dahiya, ACP (Crime), stated, “Our six teams are actively conducting raids to apprehend the two absconding accused, recover the victim’s body, and interrogate the arrested suspect. Collaborating with neighbouring districts and states’ law enforcement, we aim to swiftly recover the body and bring the culprits to justice.”
