Shraddha Murder Case: The Delhi police have prepared a 3,000-page draught chargesheet against Aaftab Poonawala, who allegedly murdered his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and dismembered her body into 35 pieces before scattering them across the city.
According to sources, the draught document contains the testimonies of more than 100 witnesses and is based on critical electronic and forensic evidence gathered by cops during their months-long investigation.
In the draught chargesheet, cops also cited Aaftab’s confessions, narco test results, and forensic test reports and Legal experts are currently reviewing it.
Aaftab Poonawala is accused of murdering Shraddha Walkar last May 18 at their rented Mehrauli flat after an argument. He had cut up her body into 35 pieces and stored them in a 300-liter fridge.
He later dumped the body parts over several days in the Mehrauli forest area.
The saw and blade used to cut up the body were thrown in the bushes in Gurugram, while the meat cleaver was dumped in a dustbin in south Delhi.
A DNA test confirmed last month that the bones found in the urban forest by Aaftab Poonawala belonged to Shraddha.
The crime was gradually revealed after her father went to the police in their hometown of Maharashtra in October.
Vikas Walkar, her father, had not contacted her because he was upset about her interfaith relationship with Aaftab Poonawala. The couple met on a dating app and lived together for a few months in their hometown Vasai near Mumbai before moving to Delhi in May last year.
Since November of last year, the 28-year-old has been held in judicial custody. Aaftab previously told a Delhi court that he killed his partner Shraddha Walkar “in the heat of the moment,” according to sources.
