Munesh Gurjar, the mayor of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation, has been suspended by the Rajasthan government as a result of yesterday’s arrest of her husband Sushil Gurjar by the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly accepting a bribe of 2 lakh in exchange for approving a property lease. Additionally, Ms. Gurjar has been demoted from Ward 43 in the heritage corporation of Jaipur, where she served in a civic body.
The mayor looks to have been involved and may have had an impact on the inquiry, the ruling said, as her husband was captured collecting the bribe at the mayor’s home while she was present. Additionally, the mayor’s home had cash valued at 40 lakh that was recovered.
Along with Sushil Gurjar, the ACB also detained two other people, who will be questioned over the course of two days. The Prevention of Corruption Act case has been filed, and more inquiries are being conducted.

According to a police complaint, Sushil Gurjar demanded 2 lakh from the complainant through his agents Narayan Singh and Anil Dubey in order to hasten the acceptance of a lease application for a plot. On the basis of the complaint, authorities set a trap and detained the individuals.
Over 40 lakh rupees in cash were found by officials during a search of Sushil Gurjar’s home. Cash worth more than 8 lakh was found in Narayan Singh’s house. To count the notes, a counting machine was brought in from the bank.

Responding, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated that the arrest of the mayor’s husband by the state’s anti-corruption department was proof enough that the administration was serious about combating corruption.
“ACB exclusively operates in Rajasthan in this manner. Other states don’t require them to obtain approval. The Collector, the Superintendent of Police, Rajasthan Public Service Commission members, and now the Mayor’s husband have all been taken into custody, the man declared.
Additionally, it looked that cabinet members for Mr. Gehlot were keeping their distance from the mayor.

A Congress board oversees the Municipal Corporation Jaipur Heritage. Munesh Gurjar and a few other Congress council members opposed the corporation’s then-commissioner in June and charged him with corruption. They had also organised a dharna at the corporate offices, calling for the officer to be punished.
