Shanti Shikhar Is Not Just a Building – It Is A Movement For World Peace, Says PM Modi At Brahma Kumaris Event

PM Modi inaugurated the Brahma Kumaris’ Shanti Shikhar Academy in Nava Raipur, calling it a bridge between spirituality and peace.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Brahma Kumaris’ newly built Shanti Shikhar Academy for a Peaceful World in Nava Raipur. He described the centre as a link between India’s ancient spiritual roots and humanity’s shared pursuit of peace.

Speaking before thousands of Brahma Kumari sisters and international delegates, the PM reflected on his long association with the organisation. He envisioned the academy as a hub for spiritual learning and global harmony.

“I have been fortunate to associate with you for several decades,” he stated, recalling his visits to the Future of Power conference in Ahmedabad in 2011 and the Prayagraj gathering in 2013.

“I have observed your efforts seriously—where service outweighs words. The affection of Janaki Devi and the spiritual rigour of every sister here fill me with gratitude,” PM Modi further asserted.

Greeting the audience with ‘Om Shanti’, the Prime Minister explained its meaning: “Om means the God who created and the entire universe; Shanti means the wish for world peace. Your conduct is the greatest religion, penance, and knowledge.”

He further described the Brahma Kumaris as keepers of India’s spiritual essence.

“We see Shiva in every living being, expanding the self to embrace the whole. Self-control leads to self-knowledge, self-realisation, and ultimately self-peace,” PM Modi noted. “Your rituals end with prayers for world welfare—this confluence of faith and global good is our tradition’s essence.”

Addressing global challenges, the Prime Minister further emphasised India’s consistent role as a nation of compassion and responsibility.

“Whenever the world faces disaster, India reaches out as the most trusted partner. Amid environmental threats, we remain nature’s voice,” he said. “We revere rivers as mother, worship water, and give back rather than exploit. This is the Save the Future concept for the world.”

The Prime Minister linked the Brahma Kumaris’ values with his government’s Mission LiFE and the vision of One Earth, One Family, One Future.

“Institutions like Shanti Shikhar will energise India and connect millions to peace. In every country I visit, I meet Brahma Kumaris—this gives me belonging and strength,” PM Modi remarked.

Spread across 25 acres, the Shanti Shikhar complex includes meditation halls and eco-friendly dormitories. It also features solar-powered facilities that combine sustainability with spiritual purpose.

The Prime Minister, however, inaugurated the academy alongside Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Brahma Kumaris chief Dadi Ratan Mohini, who presented him with a symbolic lotus.

As the crowd joined in chanting ‘Om Shanti’, the Prime Minister said, “Your spiritual power, when words become deeds, will guide humanity. Shanti Shikhar is not just a building—it is a movement for world peace.”

Held as part of Chhattisgarh’s silver jubilee celebrations, the event, however, drew delegates from several countries. It highlighted India’s growing influence in spreading peace through spiritual diplomacy.
