BJP national spokesperson and former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain attended the third ‘Bazm-e-Sahafat’ Urdu conclave at the India International Centre in Delhi.
Hussain praised Urdu and Bharat Express CMD Upendra Rai for championing the language. He said CMD Upendra Rai had taken responsibility for promoting Urdu when many people were gradually forgetting it.
Speaking to Bharat Express after the conclave, Hussain congratulated CMD Upendra Rai and praised his efforts.
“Brother Upendrra Rai deserves more congratulations than words can express. He is a beautiful human being, and his heart is equally beautiful. He has immense love for Urdu. I have called him Urdu’s foremost friend in India. If Urdu has a true friend today, it is Upendrra Rai. At a time when people are gradually forgetting Urdu, organising such a major national conclave under Bharat Express’s commitment to ‘Truth, Courage and Dedication’ is a remarkable achievement,” he said.
Hussain highlighted Urdu’s role in public discourse. He said people often appear educated and serious when they use refined Urdu words in conversation.
He recalled his childhood in Bihar, when some politicians used a few English lines to project scholarship. Some people even carried English newspapers to create an impression of being highly educated.
Hussain said linguistic elegance now carries a different significance, with Urdu vocabulary contributing to a person’s intellectual image.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Hussain congratulated him and highlighted his 25-year public service journey as Chief Minister and Prime Minister. He wished Modi continued strength to lead the country.
