Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday drew attention to an article by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that explored artificial intelligence, India’s technological ascent, and the warmth in India-Serbia relations.
Talking to X, the Prime Minister described, “A fine article by President Aleksandar Vucic of the Republic of Serbia, in which he talks about AI, of course, but at the same time highlights his fondness for India, India’s strides in AI and strong India-Serbia relations.”

President Vucic is currently in India to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026. In a social media message, he stated, “Glad to be in India and participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026. President of Serbia writes: AI Summit places India at the centre of the global discourse.”
In the article published by The Indian Express, President Vucic blended reflections on global politics with personal experiences. He portrayed India as a confident nation charting its own path in advanced technologies.
Referring to exchanges at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he rejected the notion that India would remain on the margins of AI innovation. Instead, he argued that India’s emphasis on scalable, inclusive, and ethical deployment sets it apart.
He referenced statements by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, noting that India’s AI framework prioritises practical solutions in healthcare, agriculture, education, and digital finance rather than focusing solely on laboratory breakthroughs.
Shared History and Expanding Cooperation
President Vucic also revisited his early professional years in London during the 1990s, recalling how his interactions with Indian colleagues shaped his respect for the country. He commended their dedication, discipline, and resilience.
Marking diplomatic milestones, he mentioned that Serbia and India celebrated 70 years of ties in 2018 with commemorative stamps honouring Swami Vivekananda and Nikola Tesla. He further acknowledged India’s steadfast backing of Serbia’s territorial integrity, including its position on Kosovo.
Although bilateral trade stands at roughly $400 million, President Vucic suggested that substantial opportunities remain untapped, particularly in IT services, pharmaceuticals, and green energy. He advocated for stronger commercial links, enhanced connectivity, and deeper cultural engagement, including film collaborations.
He concluded by asserting that India is actively influencing the future global order and described PM Modi as a leader who translates vision into decisive action.
