Seminar
A seminar on the topic, “Uplifting Women Street Vendors” was organised by The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA), Thursday at Tourist Lodge, Medical Colony, Dimapur.
tEA said the primary objective of the seminar to sensitise women regarding the various schemes and services for the upliftment of their businesses. The programme also served as a medium to create an awareness on women’s physical well-being.
Addressing the gathering, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) superintendent, Ganesh Sharma lauded tEA’s initiative and expressed hope that the seminar would go a long way in helping the women street vendors.
Accolading the dedication and hard work of the women street vendors of Dimapur, Sharma described the women vendors as “brave entrepreneurs” who, despite the harsh weather condition and no proper shelter, were trying their best to provide the best for their families.
Briefing the gathering on various central schemes available for street vendors, Sharma highlighted them on PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi), which facilitate collateral free working capital loans of up to Rs. 10,000 of one-year tenure to vendors. He urged interested street vendors to contact department of Urban Development and DMC to avail the loan.
Head of Feminist Futures India, Sekulu Nyekha spoke on the physical wellbeing of women and shed light on the menstrual health and hygiene of women. Services of tEA and significance of uplifting women vendors was delivered by content writer, tEA, Chubatemjen Longkumer.
The programme was chaired by research and development associate, tEA, Krishna Priya; invocation offered by Chakhesang Baptist Church Dimapur, Youth Pastor Associate, Thejolu Demo; welcome note was delivered by advisor, Tumeric FPO, tEA, Khosuto Keyho; word of encouragement was delivered by Temjenlemla Phom, a beneficiary of tEA, and vote of thanks was delivered by assistant branch supervisor, tEA, Pao Haolai.
The tEA Dimapur branch also disbursed zero interest loans to the 10 eligible beneficiaries.
