Seat-Sharing Talks Among INDIA Alliance Leaders Today, Mamata Banerjee to Skip Virtual Meeting

The INDIA party, established with the primary objective of challenging and overcoming the BJP in the upcoming 2024 elections, is grappling with internal challenges within the alliance, particularly concerning the appointment of a convenor. The JD(U) is advocating for Nitish Kumar to assume the role, a proposal met with opposition from Mamata Banerjee’s TMC, as reported by PTI.

“INDIA party leaders will be meeting over Zoom tomorrow January 13th, 2024 at 11:30 am. They will discuss several topics, including the ongoing discussions about seat sharing, participation in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which starts the day after tomorrow in Thoubal, near Imphal, and other significant issues,” Ramesh said in a social media post on X.

In a recent development on Friday, senior leaders from the AAP and the Congress engaged in discussions regarding seat-sharing arrangements in crucial states, including Delhi and Punjab, for the impending general elections. The meeting, hosted at the residence of senior Congress leader Mukul Wasnik, extended for over two hours.

Salman Khurshid, a prominent Congress leader and a member of the party’s seat-sharing committee, expressed satisfaction with the discussions, stating, “We covered a wide range of topics. Our chemistry is excellent, and we openly exchanged ideas that we believe will strengthen our bonds. The meeting exceeded our expectations, and I consider it a productive and wonderful session,” he conveyed to reporters after the meeting.
