The Supreme Court has sought reply from Uttar Pradesh Government over a petition filed by UP Cong President Ajay Rai. The apex court has sought reply by July 15 from the state government over a petition against the decision of Allahabad High Court in an FIR against Ajay Rai.
A case against Ajay Rai, Santosh Rai, Chandrabhushan Dubey and Vijay Kumar Pandey and others in the year 2010 was registered. Chetganj police station in Varanasi ledged the case under sections of rioting, assault etc.
Later, a case under Gangster act was also Booked.
Ajay Rai and other had filed a petition in High Court seeking a dismissal of the case on the basis of settlement with the complainant. Against the petition, it was argued that a case has also been registered against the accused under the Gangster Act. It cannot be ended on the basis of compromise. It was also said that Ajay Rai has a criminal history and 27 cases are registered against him.

Refusing to entertain the petition, Allahabad High Court had said that the previous plea regarding the same has been dismissed. Hence, there was no legal basis to end the proceeding.
The police filed the charge sheet in the same on October 28 2011.
Case detail against Ajay Rai and other
In 2010, an FIR was registered against Ajay Rai and four others in Chetganj police station of Varanasi. In the case, like sections 147, 148, 448, 511, 323, 505, 506, 120 B of the IPC were imposed. The FIR also included section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, and section 3(1) of the UP Gangster Act and Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act. Later, a case was also registered under the Gangster Act against UP Cong President Ajay Rai and others.
