On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2025, India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Israel’s Finance Minister Gideon Saar to discuss bilateral relations and the evolving situation in West Asia.
Following the meeting, Jaishankar took to social media to highlight the discussions.
“Great to meet FM Gideon Saar of Israel on sidelines of #MSC2025. Exchanged views on the current situation in West Asia/Middle East. Underlined the strength and significance of our bilateral partnership.”
India and Israel established full diplomatic relations in 1992, and since then, the partnership has flourished across economic, military, agricultural, and political spheres.
In May 2023, Jaishankar held bilateral talks with then Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, focusing on connectivity, mobility, and scientific research cooperation.
On India’s 78th Independence Day in 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called PM Narendra Modi to extend his wishes and discuss the West Asia situation.
Modi emphasized the need for de-escalation, humanitarian assistance, and the release of hostages.
As tensions in West Asia continue, India and Israel remain key partners, with growing cooperation in defense, technology, and trade.
The latest meeting in Munich underscores both nations’ commitment to deepening ties and addressing regional challenges together.
