Rs. 5,000 Crore To Be Transferred To Depositors’ Bank Accounts As Amit Shah Inaugrates Sahara Refund Portal

Amit Shah, Union Home and Cooperation minister launched the ‘Sahara refund portal’ on Tuesday for giving out claims to genuine depositors. This portal will be helping 1.7 Crore depositors who have registered themselves with Sahara. The Home Minister announced that the money will be refunded within 45 days to the bank account of the depositors.

Amit Shah at the inauguration of the Sahara Refund Portal said, “All data on the four Cooperatives is online… This portal will help 1.7 crore depositors register themselves…Genuine depositors will get their money back. The claim of these depositors will be settled. The money will be refunded to the bank account of depositors within 45 days.”

The ‘Good news’ came yesterday

The money was stuck with the Sahara Group for many years. People had almost lost the hope to be actually able to get the money back. But then came this announcement from Amit Sah. He said, “A portal has been developed for submission of legitimate claims by the genuine depositors of the Sahara Group of cooperative societies namely — Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd, Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Ltd, Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Ltd and Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd.”

“Tomorrow is a special day for those whose money was stuck in Sahara’s cooperative societies for many years. The Modi government is moving towards fulfilling the resolution of returning the deposits of those investors, under which the ‘Sahara Refund Portal’ will be launched tomorrow. The commitment of the Ministry of Cooperatives under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi will bring relief to all those people who are waiting to get back their hard earned money,” Amit Shah said on Twitter.

Following a Supreme Court judgement directing the transfer of 5,000 crore to the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) from the Sahara-SEBI refund account, the central government had previously announced that it would reimburse the money of 10 crore investors within nine months.
