Rouse Avenue Court has issued a detailed order regarding the cancellation of the bail for Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Excise Policy scam case. Judge Kaveri Baweja, rejecting Sisodia’s bail plea in both the CBI and ED cases, highlighted the incessant filing of applications and oral requests by Sisodia and other accused in the court, many of which lacked substantiation, suggesting a collective effort to delay proceedings. The court noted that a total of 135 applications had been filed by various accused in the case, indicating a pattern of deliberate obstruction.
Dismissing Sisodia’s argument of sluggish legal proceedings, the court underscored that the extensive filings contributed to the delay, making his claim untenable. Regarding Sisodia’s plea for bail on the grounds of his wife’s illness, the court acknowledged her longstanding health issues but emphasized her current stable condition. Additionally, the court refuted Sisodia’s assertion of a lack of caretakers, pointing out that his son could attend to his wife.

The court reiterated that the case was still in the document verification stage, with the trial yet to commence, echoing the Supreme Court’s decision on October 30, 2023, to deny bail. Therefore, the court concluded that there had been no significant change in circumstances warranting bail. Consequently, on Tuesday, the Rouse Avenue Court revoked Manish Sisodia’s bail.
Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26, 2023, and subsequently detained by the ED on March 9, 2023, in connection with the money laundering aspect of the CBI FIR. Despite appeals for bail from the High Court to the Supreme Court, all petitions filed by Sisodia have been consistently rejected.
