The CBI is examining the academic qualifications of junior doctors at RG Kar in connection with a multi-cr financial irregularities scandal.

RG Kar

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is scrutinizing the academic qualifications of several junior doctors at RG Kar Medical College as part of an ongoing investigation into a multi-crore financial irregularities scandal.

This inquiry has raised serious concerns regarding the alleged threat culture perpetuated by certain individuals associated with the college, particularly those connected to the controversial former principal, Sandip Ghosh.

Among the doctors under investigation is Ashish Pandey, a house staff member at RG Kar, who is currently in judicial custody for his purported involvement in the financial misconduct case.

The CBI is also examining the credentials of two additional doctors from the college, focusing on how they were able to secure positions as resident doctors without adhering to the standard procedures.

While the identities of these two junior doctors remain undisclosed for investigative reasons, sources indicate that the CBI’s inquiry has revealed a pattern of favoritism towards them, allegedly due to their close ties with Ghosh.

RG Kar Doctors Neglect Mandatory Protocols, Witnesses Report

Witnesses at RG Kar have reported that these doctors often neglected mandatory protocols, such as biometric attendance and patient care, which are essential responsibilities for junior medical staff.

Adding to the controversy, a probe committee established by the West Bengal Health Department recently submitted a report about two other doctors, Birupaksha Biswas and Avik Dey, who allegedly fostered a threatening environment at various state-run medical institutions.

Preliminary findings from this committee have validated multiple allegations against both doctors, particularly against Dey.

In light of the probe committee’s findings, the state government is likely to take decisive action against Biswas and Dey, reflecting the broader implications of the investigation into RG Kar Medical College.

The outcome of these inquiries may lead to significant reforms within the institution and address the alarming issues of accountability and professional conduct among medical personnel in West Bengal.

As the investigation unfolds, the CBI and state health officials are committed to ensuring that ethical standards are upheld within the medical community, thereby safeguarding the integrity of healthcare services for the public.
