Ahead of Republic Day preparations, the Delhi Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to inform commuters about various road restrictions and diversions that will be in place during the event.
As per the statement issued by the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), D.K. Gupta, significant traffic control measures will begin on the evening of Saturday from 9:00 PM.
Republic Day 2025: Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory
The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory stating that authorities will restrict the capital’s borders, allowing only essential vehicles to pass through. These restrictions will remain in effect until the conclusion of the Republic Day parade on Sunday.
The advisory also highlights that authorities will enforce diversions on the roads leading to the parade route, which stretches from Vijay Chowk to the Red Fort.
Meanwhile, authorities will close C-Hexagon after 9:15 pm on Saturday, and they advise commuters to avoid the area.
Road Diversions For Republic Day Parade
Authorities have scheduled the Republic Day parade to begin at around 10 am on Sunday. The parade will follow a detailed route, which will include Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Tilak Marg, and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, while winding up at the Red Fort.
As part of security arrangements, authorities will close Kartavya Path to all vehicular movement from 5 pm on Saturday until the parade concludes.
Advisory For Road Diversions & Road Commuters
Additionally, authorities will restrict cross traffic on major roads like Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road starting on Saturday. Authorities will close C-Hexagon for traffic at around 9 am on Sunday, and it will remain closed until the parade is completed. Moreover, from 10 am onwards, no movement will be allowed on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Subhash Marg.
Authorities strongly advise road users to plan their journeys and avoid areas along the parade route, particularly between 9 am and 1 pm. Meanwhile, the Metro services will continue to operate normally across all stations during the Republic Day celebrations.
