Ravi Agrawal Appointed As Chairman Of Central Board Of Direct Taxes

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ravi Agrawal, IRS (IT:88028), Member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), as the Chairman of CBDT, effective from July 1, 2024. This appointment is slated to continue until the date of his superannuation on September 30, 2024. Following this period, Shri Ravi Agrawal will be re-appointed on a contract basis, extending his tenure as Chairman up to June 30, 2025.

In his new role as Chairman, Ravi Agrawal will lead the CBDT, the apex body for direct taxes in India, with responsibilities encompassing policy formulation, implementation, and enforcement. His appointment underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring effective tax administration and fostering economic stability through prudent fiscal measures.
