Rashmi Saluja, the chairman of Religare Enterprises, a financial services firm, was removed from an international flight by Air India (AI) due to alleged rude behavior towards the crew, sources disclosed to BW. Saluja, accompanied by another board member of Religare, had boarded Air India’s Delhi-London flight in the business class, with seat number 9J. Following an assurance regarding her conduct, the airline agreed to accommodate her on the next available flight, according to the sources.
Saluja, presently entangled in a controversy, had initially taken her seat in the business class of Air India’s Delhi-London flight on Tuesday, March 5th, but reportedly began communicating impolitely with the crew. As a result, the checked-in baggage of the absent individual had to be offloaded, leading to a delay of an hour for the flight.
An AI spokesperson informed the media about the incident on flight AI-161 of March 5th, stating, “We are aware of an incident on flight AI-161 of March 5th. A passenger traveling in the business class was offloaded on the advice of the captain following some arguments with the members of the crew. The passenger who was offloaded was traveling for some compelling reasons and was accommodated on a subsequent flight following a written assurance.”
