Rape Accused Climbs 40-feet-high Wall To Absconded From Sub-jail In Karnataka

A man imprisoned for committing a heinous crime managed to escape from the jail on Saturday afternoon. In order to abscond from the prison, the rape accused, identified as Vasant, jumped over a 40-feet-high wall in Karnataka’s Devanagere. The escapade was captured by a CCTV camera installed within the prison premises.

The 23-year-old rape accused hails from Karur, situated on the outskirts of Davanagere town. The apprehension took place subsequent to a complaint that was filed against him at the women’s police station. After his appearance in court, he was detained in jail.

The now-viral video portrays Vasant jumping from the 40-feet-high wall of the sub-jail on August 25. He also sustained a dire injury to his right leg. Despite the injury, he fled from the premises in order to evade capture.

Not long after his escape, the officials promptly sprung into action. They initiated a search operation to locate and get a hold of the fugitive. In a significant development, the officials managed to re-arrest the rape accused within 24 hours of his escape. He was tracked down in the vicinity of Havery, said the officials.
