Ramban: 10 Killed After Vehicle Falls Into Gorge In J&K

Ten people were killed on Friday after a passenger taxi skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and fell into a gorge.

At least 10 killed after a passenger taxi skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and fell into a gorge on Friday.

The accident took place near Battery Chashma in the Ramban area.

As per the identity documents recovered, one individual is recognized as driver Balwan Singh. The other is identified as Vipin Mukhiya, a resident of Bihar.

Police, State Disaster Response Force, and Civil Quick Response Team arrived at the spot.

As per reports, rescue operation is underway.

J&K Police said, “A passenger taxi rolled down a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Battery Chashma in the Ramban area. Police, SDRF and Civil QRT Ramban reached the spot. Rescue operation underway.”

Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said, “Spoke to Deputy Commissioner Ramban after learning about the road accident. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families.”

 

Earlier this month, 4 people died and 2 injured when the vehicle they were traveling in fell into a gorge in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir’s Pogal Paristan area.

The weather department on Thursday said Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh region likely to witness rain or snow with thunderstorms.
