Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level meeting at the Defence Ministry on Friday to assess the progress of Operation Sindoor and review the prevailing security situation along the Indo-Pak border.
The meeting brought together key military leaders, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, and Defence Secretary RK Singh.
During the review, the Defence Minister received a comprehensive briefing on Operation Sindoor, which India launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
The top defence officials presented updates on the operation’s progress and the evolving border scenario.
The military chiefs informed Singh of Pakistan’s multiple failed attempts to strike Indian military and civilian installations.
India’s armed forces thwarted all such intrusions effectively and mounted a strong counteroffensive.
In response to Pakistani aggression, Indian forces reportedly shot down three Pakistani fighter jets during air combat.
They also intercepted and neutralised numerous drones and missile attacks.

Particularly, India’s S-400 air defence system successfully shot down eight incoming missiles aimed at Jammu and Kashmir.
The defence leadership also detailed Pakistan’s coordinated strikes across multiple Indian states – from Jammu and Kashmir to Rajasthan.
Enemy aircraft, drones, rockets, and missiles targeted military installations in Pathankot, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Jaisalmer.
However, all these attempts were foiled by India’s robust defence mechanisms.
Rajnath Singh reviewed India’s retaliatory measures, including the strategic deployment of forces and the effectiveness of India’s multi-layered air defence system.
He praised the armed forces for their swift response, high readiness, and professionalism in countering these escalating threats from across the border.
