Rahul Dravid is the new head coach of Rajasthan Royals (RR) on a multi-year contract. Dravid, who led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup win, will take charge immediately. He previously spent five seasons with RR from 2011 to 2015, where he began his coaching career.
“I’m happy to return to RR, a place I consider home. After the World Cup, this feels like the right time for a new challenge, and RR is the perfect fit,” Dravid said.
Teaming Up with Kumar Sangakkara
Dravid will work closely with RR’s Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, to set the team’s cricketing strategy. Sangakkara praised Dravid’s ability to develop players and get results. He said, “Rahul’s coaching is exceptional. His skills will help us compete for the title.”
They have already started planning for the upcoming IPL 2025 auction and retention.
Reunion with Sanju Samson
Dravid returns to RR, reuniting with captain Sanju Samson, who rose through the ranks under his leadership. Dravid’s success with India, including top rankings and multiple finals, has raised expectations for the Royals as they aim for IPL glory.
