Rajasthan Borewell Tragedy: 3-year-old Remains Trapped On 8th Day OF Rescue Operation

In Kotputli, Rajasthan, the rescue team have intensified their efforts to save three-year-old Chetna. The three-year-old has remained trapped in a 700-foot-deep borewell since December 23. Officials reported that the teams are now just 1.5 feet away from reaching Chetna, who is stuck at a depth of approximately 170 feet.

Expressing optimism, officials stated they expect to reach the child by noon on Monday, even as the operation enters its eighth day.

Rajasthan Borewell Tragedy: Rescue Operation In Progress

By early Monday morning, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel had successfully dug about 7 feet of a tunnel. However, progress has slowed significantly due to the extreme hardness of the rock, which is limiting drilling to just 2-4 inches per hour.

NDRF team member Mahavir Singh highlighted the challenges, noting, “The deeper we dig, the higher the temperature inside the tunnel rises, and dust is creating breathing difficulties for the team.” Despite these obstacles, rescuers are working with precision and determination to reach the child safely.

Additional Forces Join Rescue Efforts

The tunnel, being dug at a challenging angle, has required technical expertise to ensure its accuracy. NDRF in-charge Yogesh Kumar Meena revealed that engineers from Hindustan Zinc Limited and local construction professionals have been consulted to verify the tunnel’s alignment with the borewell. Personnel from the Air Force and Border Security Force (BSF) have also been called in to confirm the drilling direction.

All assessments so far indicate that the drilling remains on the correct path, providing hope for a successful rescue.

How Chetna Fell Into Borewell?

Chetna fell into the borewell around 2 p.m. on December 23 while playing. Initial efforts to rescue her using improvised methods managed to raise her by 30 feet but failed to bring her to the surface.

Since her fall, officials confirmed that Chetna has had no access to water, and there have been no signs of movement since the evening of December 24. Rescue teams have refrained from sharing camera visuals or updates about her condition in recent days.

As the operation enters its critical phase, rescue teams remain focused and determined to save Chetna. Despite the daunting challenges, they are working tirelessly to conclude the ordeal with a successful rescue.
