During an election rally in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress party’s proposition of a separate law for minorities, questioning whether the country should be governed by Sharia principles.
Shah, addressing the gathering in the Durg Lok Sabha constituency, slated for polls on May 7, also condemned those who declined invitations to the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya for the sake of vote bank politics, asserting that they lack the right to lead the nation.
He remarked, “Congress has expressed intentions to enact a distinct law for minorities. Should our nation adopt Sharia law? Should triple talaq be reinstated? Congress is pursuing the agenda of the Muslim League.”
Taking aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah declared, “Rahul baba, the people will not elect you, and triple talaq will not return. Today, I affirm that we will safeguard the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, triple talaq prohibition, and the abrogation of Article 370.”
Emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s accomplishments, Shah asserted that Modi had effectively tackled terrorism and ensured national security. He urged for a third term for Modi and the BJP, promising to eradicate Naxalism from Chhattisgarh within two years.
Shah boasted, “No leader has achieved what PM Modi has in the past decade since 2014. The Congress party fueled Maoism for its political advantage. However, under Modi’s leadership, Maoism has been eradicated.”
He further accused Congress of being anti-OBC and assured that Modi would safeguard reservations for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes.
