The Thiruvananthapuram district has been hit hard by heavy showers since Saturday night, causing waterlogging and flooding of streets, roads, and low-lying regions, according to images posted by local news networks.

The state’s general education minister, V Sivankutty, toured the flooded districts and wrote on Facebook that the unique scenario in Thiruvananthapuram city was caused by the rain that started the previous night. Sivankutty continued, “Necessary government offices have been told to stay open.”
In addition to a yellow notice for the day for eight districts in the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for four districts: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha.
