Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has come under fire after his recent social media posts about Operation Sindoor gained significant attention in Pakistan.
His remarks, which questioned the government’s handling of the operation, were quickly picked up by Pakistani leaders and media, prompting a sharp response from the BJP.
Assam Minister Accuses Gandhi Of Echoing Pakistan’s Narrative
On Tuesday, Assam Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal accused Rahul Gandhi of aligning with the agenda of Pakistan.
In a pointed post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Singhal shared a side-by-side image of Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir and Rahul Gandhi. The caption read “One Agenda,” suggesting that despite being from different nations, both figures are pursuing the same line of attack.

Singhal, who holds the Health, Family Welfare and Irrigation portfolios in Assam, stated that Gandhi and Munir are “divided by the border but united by an agenda.”
Rahul Gandhi Questions Centre’s Decision In Operation Sindoor
Rahul Gandhi has recently aimed at External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, claiming that the Indian government informed Pakistan at the beginning of Operation Sindoor. He called the action not just a lapse but a ‘crime’.
On Saturday, Gandhi posted a video of Jaishankar speaking to the media and asked, “Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that the GOI did it. Who authorised it? How many aircraft did our air force lose as a result?”
He followed up on Monday by reposting the video, stating, “The EAM’s silence isn’t just telling — it’s damning. So I’ll ask again: How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn’t a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth.”
Following Gandhi’s posts, several Pakistani leaders began quoting his statements to criticise India’s claims surrounding Operation Sindoor.
Pakistani television channels widely covered his remarks, fueling speculation and political commentary across the border.
Government And MEA Clarify External Affairs Minister’s Comments
In response to the controversy, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a clarification on Jaishankar’s comments.
The MEA stated, “The External Affairs Minister had said we warned Pakistan at the start, referring to the early phase after Operation Sindoor’s commencement. People are wrongly portraying this as a pre-commencement warning. Officials are calling out this utter misrepresentation of facts.”
BJP Slams Gandhi For Misrepresenting Facts
The BJP has strongly criticised Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of deliberately distorting facts. Party leaders said his misrepresentations ‘reeks of mala fide intent’ and raised concerns about the timing of his accusations, especially as his posts gained traction in Pakistan.
The political storm grows as Rahul Gandhi stands by his claims, while officials and the ruling party push back against what they call misleading narratives.
