Balwant Singh was caught by Punjab Police on Sunday. He is the person who sheltered Tejinder Singh Gill, a close aide of Amritpal Singh, the radical leader of Punjab. He was found in Khanna city of Ludhiana district

Punjab police have stated that Balwant Singh’s questioning is going on. Also. They have shared that they have still not found any kind of direct connection between Balwant Singh and Amritpal.

The case as of now

Many allies of Amritpal are under police custody but the main suspect is still absconding. He was declared fugitive by the Punjab Police. The police even launched a crackdown against his Pro-Khalistani earlier.

As per the information by Additional Director General of Police, V Murugesan, it is assumed that the leader might have entered the state of Uttarakhand. He also mentioned that Amritpal might have entered the state from Haryana.

Bathinda’s SSP, Gulneet Khurana has said, “BSF companies along with police personnel and 140 security personnel from Bahadurgarh are currently deployed in Bathinda to ensure peace.”

It was to ensure the public that the police is still searching for the leader. Since rumors are being spread about the fact that the leader is already caught and is actually being tortured in police custody.

Punjab Police Urges public not to believe in rumors

On Saturday, the Punjab Police urged people not to believe reports or false information about the detention of extremist preacher Amritpal Singh that was spreading on social media.

Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday, Bathinda SSP Gulneet Khurana said, “We urge people not to believe the fake reports of the arrest of Amritpal Singh that are being widely circulated on social media.”

“A few people sitting in the UK, US, and Canada are spreading false news on social media. They say that Amritpal is being tortured (in custody),” the SSP added.
