Prime Minister Modi To Launch Major Development Projects In Kerala

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kerala on January 23, 2026. During the visit, he will launch, inaugurate, and flag off several major development initiatives in Thiruvananthapuram.  He will also address a public gathering on the occasion.

The projects cover critical sectors such as rail connectivity, urban livelihoods, science and innovation, citizen-focused services, and advanced healthcare.

The initiatives reflect the government’s emphasis on inclusive growth, technological progress, and improved quality of life.

Rail infrastructure will receive a major boost. The Prime Minister will flag off four new train services. These include three Amrit Bharat Express trains and one passenger service.

The Amrit Bharat Express routes will connect Nagercoil with Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram with Tambaram, and Thiruvananthapuram with Charlapalli.

A new passenger train will operate between Thrissur and Guruvayur. These services will strengthen regional and long-distance connectivity across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.

The improved network will support tourism, trade, education, employment, and cultural exchange.

Urban livelihood enhancement will form another key focus. The Prime Minister will launch the PM SVANidhi Credit Card.

The UPI-linked card will provide interest-free revolving credit to street vendors. It will offer quick access to funds, encourage digital payments, and help beneficiaries build formal credit records.

The Prime Minister will also disburse PM SVANidhi loans to one lakh beneficiaries, including vendors from Kerala.

Since 2020, the scheme has expanded access to formal credit and strengthened income security for urban informal workers.

In science and innovation, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the CSIR–NIIST Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub.

The facility will promote life sciences, bio-economy research, sustainable packaging, green hydrogen, and biotechnology.

It will integrate traditional knowledge systems such as Ayurveda with modern science and support startups, technology transfer, and global collaboration.

Healthcare infrastructure will also see expansion. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Radiosurgery Centre at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute.

The centre will deliver precise and minimally invasive treatment for complex brain disorders.

Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate the new Poojappura Head Post Office.

The modern facility will deliver postal, banking, insurance, and digital services, strengthening citizen-centric governance.
