Prime Minister Modi talks to rescued tunnel workers from Uttarakhand; Here’s what he said

Uttarakhand tunnel workers talks to PM Modi over phone

Speaking with the 41 workers who were saved from the Uttarakhand Silkyara tunnel on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the 17 days of nonstop work by the federal government, state governments, and various agencies. PM Modi congratulated them on their victory and remarked that the workers’ perseverance was admirable, pointing out that 17 days is not a short time.

Here’s what Prime Minister Modi said

“We have the blessings of Kedarnath, Badrinath. Had something untoward happened, I can’t describe how we could have taken that. You all have shown exemplary bravery,” PM Modi said.

“You had each other’s back throughout the crisis. At a moment of crisis like this, it is not rare to get into a little tu tu-main main. This happens even in a railway compartment. But you all have remained united,” PM Modi said.

Word of thanks from rescued workers

The rescued workers represented by one of them, while talking to PM Modi expressed his gratitude towards the government of Uttarakhand. The government made sure that all the workers were provided with the basic amenities that a person need for survival. He said, “We are really thankful to Chief Minister of the state as he used to keep a regular check on us. And today when we finally got out of the tunnel, Dhami Saab (CM of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami)” greeted us warmly.”

Apart from this, they also mentioned their routine. The trapped workers used to eat and stay together to be moral support to each other. They used to take a stroll  around in the tunnel. They even performed Yoga staying in there as they did not have anything else to do.

The situation was well handled by the workers. It was done without creating much panic that could have been caused in such a tense situation. Some of the stuck workers came up as efficient leaders which lead others in a way such that others were able to survive through the tough time.
