Prime Minister Modi Conducts Aerial Survey Of Landslide Impact In Wayanad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a comprehensive aerial survey of the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad district, providing a firsthand assessment of the disaster’s impact before personally visiting the affected locations.

The aerial survey allowed Modi to gain an extensive view of the disaster’s scale, focusing particularly on the origins of the landslide in the region. The Prime Minister observed the initial point of the landslide near the Iruvazhinji Puzha (River), which was identified as the primary source of the massive earth movement that triggered widespread devastation.

During the survey, Modi examined the most severely impacted areas, including Punchirimattam, Mundakkai, and Chooralmala. These regions have reported significant damage due to the landslides, which have disrupted local infrastructure and displaced many residents.

The aerial reconnaissance provided critical insights into the extent of the damage and the areas that require immediate attention. Following the aerial survey, the Prime Minister proceeded to visit the affected sites on the ground to further assess the situation and interact with local officials and residents.

Government’s Commitment

Modi’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the immediate needs of those affected by the landslide and coordinating relief efforts effectively. His inspection aims to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to assist the displaced communities and facilitate the recovery and rebuilding process.

In his subsequent interactions, Modi is expected to announce additional support and resources to aid in the relief efforts, as well as outline plans for long-term rehabilitation and disaster preparedness in the region.

The disaster has drawn widespread attention, prompting calls for enhanced measures to prevent and manage such natural calamities in vulnerable areas. The Prime Minister’s visit is seen as a critical step in mobilizing resources and demonstrating solidarity with the people of Wayanad during this challenging time.
