On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Diwali by celebrating the festival of lights with troops stationed at the border in the Sir Creek area of Kutch, Gujarat.

During the celebration at Lakki Nala, near Sir Creek, the Prime Minister distributed sweets to the soldiers, uplifting their spirits in this remote border region that adjoins Pakistan.
The 96-kilometer stretch known as Sir Creek, situated along the contested border between India and Pakistan, frequently attracts infiltration efforts by terrorists and drug smugglers operating from Pakistan.
Despite these challenges, the BSF, particularly its elite Crocodile Commandos, have consistently thwarted such threats, maintaining the security of Indian territory.
Sources indicated that PM Modi praised the unwavering commitment of the BSF personnel, acknowledging the difficult conditions they endure while performing their duties.
He took the time to engage with the troops, discussing recent operational changes and exploring ways to enhance their working conditions.
During his visit, which lasted about an hour, PM Modi closely examined the creek area and interacted with the personnel, reinforcing the government’s support for their efforts.
After the visit, he continued on to Bhuj, leaving behind a sense of camaraderie and appreciation.
This visit continues PM Modi’s longstanding tradition, initiated in 2014 with a surprise trip to the Siachen Glacier, of spending Diwali with the country’s armed forces.
Last year, PM celebrated the festival with soldiers in Lepcha, Himachal Pradesh, near the Chinese border, describing the experience as one filled with deep emotion and pride.
